וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שַׂר הַסָּרִיסִים֙ לְדָנִיֵּ֔אל יָרֵ֤א אֲנִי֙ אֶת אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֲשֶׁר מִנָּ֛ה אֶת מַאֲכַלְכֶ֥ם וְאֶת מִשְׁתֵּיכֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָ֑מָּה יִרְאֶ֤ה אֶת פְּנֵיכֶם֙ זֹֽעֲפִ֔ים מִן הַיְּלָדִ֕ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר כְּגִֽילְכֶ֑ם וְחִיַּבְתֶּ֥ם אֶת רֹאשִׁ֖י לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

vayoʾmer shar hasariysiym ldaniyeʾl yareʾ ʾaniy ʾet ʾadoniy hamelek ʾasher minah ʾet maʾakalkem vʾet mishteykem ʾasher lamah yirʾeh ʾet pneykem zoʿapiym min hayladiym ʾasher kgiylkem vḥiyabtem ʾet roʾshiy lamelek

King James Version (KJV)

And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

Modern English

and the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel: I fear my lord the king, who assigned your food and your drink; for why should he see that you were in worse condition than the youths who are of your own age? So you would endanger my head with the king.
