Daniel 1:8

וַיָּ֤שֶׂם דָּנִיֵּאל֙ עַל לִבּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא יִתְגָּאַל֙ בְּפַת בַּ֣ג הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּבְיֵ֖ין מִשְׁתָּ֑יו וַיְבַקֵּ֕שׁ מִשַּׂ֣ר הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א יִתְגָּאָֽל׃
vayashem daniyeʾl ʿal libvo ʾasher loʾ yitgaʾal bpat bag hamelek vbyeyn mishtayv vaybaqesh mishar hasariysiym ʾasher loʾ yitgaʾal
King James Version (KJV)

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Modern English

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself.
