מַ֭דּוּעַ מִשַּׁדַּ֣י לֹא נִצְפְּנ֑וּ עִתִּ֥ים וְ֝יֹדְעָ֗יו לֹא חָ֣זוּ יָמָֽיו׃
KJVWhy, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?
Why are not times of judgment kept by the Almighty, and why do those who know him never see his days?

גְּבֻל֥וֹת יַשִּׂ֑יגוּ עֵ֥דֶר גָּ֝זְל֗וּ וַֽיִּרְעֽוּ׃
KJVSome remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.
Some move landmarks; they seize flocks and pasture them.

חֲמ֣וֹר יְתוֹמִ֣ים יִנְה֑גוּ יַחְבְּל֖וּ שׁ֣וֹר אַלְמָנָֽה׃
KJVThey drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
They drive away the donkey of the fatherless; they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

יַטּ֣וּ אֶבְיוֹנִ֣ים מִדָּ֑רֶךְ יַחַ֖ד חֻבְּא֣וּ עֲנִיֵּי אָֽרֶץ׃
KJVThey turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
They thrust the poor off the road; the poor of the earth all hide themselves.

הֵ֣ן פְּ֭רָאִים בַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר יָצְא֗וּ בְּפָעֳלָ֥ם מְשַׁחֲרֵ֥י לַטָּ֑רֶף עֲרָבָ֥ה ל֝֗וֹ לֶ֣חֶם לַנְּעָרִֽים׃
KJVBehold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.
Behold, like wild donkeys in the desert, the poor go out to their toil, seeking game; the wilderness yields food for their children.

בַּשָּׂדֶ֣ה בְ֭לִילוֹ יִקְצֹ֑רוּ וְכֶ֖רֶם רָשָׁ֣ע יְלַקֵּֽשׁוּ׃
KJVThey reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.
They gather their fodder in the field, and they glean the vineyard of the wicked man.

עָרוֹם֙ יָלִ֣ינוּ מִבְּלִ֣י לְב֔וּשׁ וְאֵ֥ין כְּסוּת֖ בַּקָּרָֽה׃
KJVThey cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.
They lie all night naked, without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.

מִ֭זֶּרֶם הָרִ֣ים יִרְטָ֑בוּ וּֽמִבְּלִ֥י מַ֝חְסֶ֗ה חִבְּקוּ צֽוּר׃
KJVThey are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
They are wet with the rain of the mountains and cling to the rock for lack of shelter.

יִ֭גְזְלוּ מִשֹּׁ֣ד יָת֑וֹם וְעַל עָנִ֥י יַחְבֹּֽלוּ׃
KJVThey pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.
There are those who snatch the fatherless child from the breast, and they take a pledge against the poor.

עָרוֹם֙ הִלְּכ֣וּ בְּלִ֣י לְב֔וּשׁ וּרְעֵבִ֖ים נָשְׂא֥וּ עֹֽמֶר׃
KJVThey cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;
They go about naked, without clothing; hungry, they carry the sheaves;
11
בֵּ֣ין שׁ֭וּרֹתָם יַצְהִ֑ירוּ יְקָבִ֥ים דָּ֝רְכ֗וּ וַֽיִּצְמָֽאוּ׃
KJVWhich make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
among the olive rows of the wicked they make oil; they tread the winepresses, but suffer thirst.

מֵעִ֗יר מְ֭תִים יִנְאָ֑קוּ וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ חֲ֝לָלִ֗ים תְּשַׁוֵּ֥עַ וֶאֱל֣וֹהַּ לֹא יָשִׂ֣ים תִּפְלָ֣ה׃
KJVMen groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
From out of the city the dying groan, and the soul of the wounded cries for help; yet God charges no one with wrong.

הֵ֭מָּה הָי֣וּ בְמֹרְדֵי א֑וֹר לֹ֘א הִכִּ֥ירוּ דְ֝רָכָ֗יו וְלֹ֣א יָשְׁב֣וּ בִּנְתִיבֹתָֽיו׃
KJVThey are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
There are those who rebel against the light, who are not acquainted with its ways, and do not stay in its paths.

לָא֣וֹר יָ֭קוּם רוֹצֵ֑חַ יִקְטָל עָנִ֥י וְ֝אֶבְי֗וֹן וּבַלַּ֣יְלָה יְהִי כַגַּנָּֽב׃
KJVThe murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
The murderer rises before it is light, that he may kill the poor and needy, and in the night he is like a thief.

וְעֵ֤ין נֹאֵ֗ף שָׁ֭מְרָה נֶ֣שֶׁף לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹא תְשׁוּרֵ֥נִי עָ֝֗יִן וְסֵ֣תֶר פָּנִ֣ים יָשִֽׂים׃
KJVThe eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
The eye of the adulterer also waits for the twilight, saying: No eye will see me; and he veils his face.
16
חָ֭תַר בַּחֹ֣שֶׁךְ בָּתִּ֑ים יוֹמָ֥ם חִ֝תְּמוּ לָ֗מוֹ לֹ֣א יָדְעוּ אֽוֹר׃
KJVIn the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.
In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves up; they do not know the light.
17
כִּי יַחְדָּ֣ו בֹּ֣קֶר לָ֑מוֹ כִּ֥י יַ֝כִּ֗יר צַלְמָ֥וֶת׃
KJVFor the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.
For deep darkness is morning to all of them; for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.
18
קַ֤ל ה֣וּא עַל פְּנֵי מַ֑יִם תְּקֻלַּ֥ל חֶלְקָ֥תָם בָּ֝אָ֗רֶץ לֹ֣א יִפְנֶ֣ה דֶ֣רֶךְ כְּרָמִֽים׃
KJVHe is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
You say, Swift are they on the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the land; no treader turns toward their vineyards.
19
צִיָּ֣ה גַם חֹ֭ם יִגְזְל֣וּ מֵימֵי שֶׁ֑לֶג שְׁא֝֗וֹל חָטָֽאוּ׃
KJVDrought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.
Drought and heat snatch away the snow waters; so does Sheol those who have sinned.
20
יִשְׁכָּחֵ֣הוּ רֶ֭חֶם מְתָקֵ֣ם רִמָּ֑ה ע֥וֹד לֹא יִ֝זָּכֵ֗ר וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֥ר כָּעֵ֗ץ עַוְלָֽה׃
KJVThe womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.
The womb forgets them; the worm finds them sweet; they are no longer remembered, so wickedness is broken like a tree.
21
רֹ֭עֶה עֲקָרָ֣ה לֹ֣א תֵלֵ֑ד וְ֝אַלְמָנָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְיֵטִֽיב׃
KJVHe evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
He feasts on the barren childless woman, and does no good to the widow.
22
וּמָשַׁ֣ךְ אַ֭בִּירִים בְּכֹח֑וֹ יָק֥וּם וְ֝לֹא יַאֲמִ֗ין בְּחַיָּֽיו׃
KJVHe draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
Yet God prolongs the life of the mighty by his power; they rise up when they despair of life.
23
יִתֶּן לוֹ לָבֶ֣טַח וְיִשָּׁעֵ֑ן וְ֝עֵינֵ֗יהוּ עַל דַּרְכֵיהֶֽם׃
KJVThough it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.
He gives them security, and they are supported, and his eyes are upon their ways.
24
ר֣וּמּוּ מְ֭עַט וְאֵינֶ֑נּוּ וְהֻמְּכ֥וּ כַכֹּ֗ל יִקָּפֵ֥צוּן וּכְרֹ֣אשׁ שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת יִמָּלֽוּ׃
KJVThey are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
They are exalted a little while, and then are gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like the heads of grain.
25
וְאִם לֹ֣א אֵפ֣וֹ מִ֣י יַכְזִיבֵ֑נִי וְיָשֵׂ֖ם לְאַ֣ל מִלָּתִֽי׃
KJVAnd if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
If it is not so, who will prove me a liar and show that there is nothing in what I say?
