וַתֹּ֥אמֶר לָ֖הּ נָעֳמִ֣י חֲמוֹתָ֑הּ בִּתִּ֗י הֲלֹ֧א אֲבַקֶּשׁ־לָ֛ךְ מָנ֖וֹחַ אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִיטַב־לָֽךְ׃
KJVThen Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, "My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?"

וְעַתָּ֗ה הֲלֹ֥א בֹ֛עַז מֹדַעְתָּ֖נוּ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיִ֣יתְ אֶת־נַעֲרוֹתָ֑יו הִנֵּה־ה֗וּא זֹרֶ֛ה אֶת־גֹּ֥רֶן הַשְּׂעֹרִ֖ים הַלָּֽיְלָה׃
KJVAnd now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
"Now isn't Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor."

וְרָחַ֣צְתְּ ׀ וָסַ֗כְתְּ וְשַׂ֣מְתְּ שִׂמְלֹתַ֣יִךְ עָלַ֗יִךְ וְיָרַ֙דְתְּ֙ הַגֹּ֔רֶן אַל־תִּוָּדְעִ֣י לָאִ֔ישׁ עַ֖ד כַּלֹּת֑וֹ לֶאֱכֹ֖ל וְלִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃
KJVWash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put on thy raiment, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
"Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself, and put on your best garment, and go down to the threshing floor, but don't make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking."

וִיהִ֣י בְשָׁכְב֗וֹ וְיָדַ֙עַתְּ֙ אֶת־הַמָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִשְׁכַּב־שָׁ֖ם וּבָ֣את וְגִלִּ֣ית מַרְגְּלֹתָ֑יו וְשָׁכָ֖בְתְּ וְה֥וּא יַגִּ֖יד לָ֥ךְ אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁ֖ר תַּעֲשִֽׂין׃
KJVAnd it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
"It shall be, when he lies down, that you shall note the place where he shall lie, and you shall go in, and uncover his feet, and lay down; and he will tell you what you shall do."

וַתֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלֶ֖יהָ כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמְרִ֖י אֶעֱשֶֽׂה׃
KJVAnd she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
She said to her, "All that you say I will do."

וַתֵּ֖רֶד הַגֹּ֑רֶן וַתַּ֕עַשׂ כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוַּ֖תָּה חֲמוֹתָֽהּ׃
KJVAnd she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
She went down to the threshing floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law told her.

וַיֹּ֤אכַל בֹּ֙עַז֙ וַיֵּ֔שְׁתְּ וַיִּיטַ֖ב לִבּ֑וֹ וַיָּבֹ֕א לִשְׁכַּ֖ב בִּקְצֵ֣ה הָעֲרֵמָ֑ה וַתָּבֹ֣א בַלָּ֔ט וַתְּגַ֥ל מַרְגְּלֹתָ֖יו וַתִּשְׁכָּֽב׃
KJVAnd when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
Boaz ate and drank, and his heart was merry; and he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. Then she came softly, uncovered his feet, and lay down.

וַיְהִ֥י בַחֲצִ֖י הַלַּ֑יְלָה וַיֶּחֱרַ֤ד הָאִישׁ֙ וַיִּלָּפֵ֔ת וְהִנֵּ֣ה אִשָּׁ֔ה שֹׁכֶ֖בֶת מַרְגְּלֹתָֽיו׃
KJVAnd it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
At midnight, the man was startled and turned over, and behold, a woman lay at his feet.

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מִי־אָ֑תְּ וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אָנֹכִ֣י ר֔וּת אֲמָתֶ֕ךָ וּפָרַשְׂתָּ֥ כְנָפֶ֛ךָ עַל־אֲמָתְךָ֖ כִּ֥י גֹאֵ֖ל אָֽתָּה׃
KJVAnd he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
He said, "Who are you?" She answered, "I am Ruth your servant. Spread the corner of your garment over your servant, for you are a near kinsman."

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ בְּרוּכָ֥ה אַ֛תְּ לַיהוָ֖ה בִּתִּ֑י הֵיטַ֣בְתְּ חַסְדֵּ֣ךְ הָאַחֲר֗וֹן מִן־הָרִאשׁ֔וֹן לְבִלְתִּי־לֶ֙כֶת֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י הַבַּחוּרִ֔ים אִם־דַּ֖ל וְאִם־עָשִֽׁיר׃
KJVAnd he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
He said, "You are blessed of Yahweh, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, in that you didn't follow young men, whether poor or rich."

וְעַתָּ֣ה בִּתִּ֔י אַל־תִּירְאִ֖י כֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמְרִ֑י אֶעֱשֶׂה־לָּ֒ךְ כִּ֤י יוֹדֵ֙עַ֙ כָּל־שַׁ֣עַר עַמִּ֔י כִּ֛י אֵ֥שֶׁת חַ֖יִל אָֽתְּ׃
KJVAnd now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
"Now, my daughter, don't be afraid. I will do to you all that you say; for all the city of my people knows that you are a worthy woman."

וְעַתָּ֗ה כִּ֚י אָמְנָ֔ם כִּ֥י גֹאֵ֖ל אָנֹ֑כִי וְגַם֙ יֵ֣שׁ גֹּאֵ֔ל קָר֖וֹב מִמֶּֽנִּי׃
KJVAnd now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
"Now it is true that I am a near kinsman; however there is a kinsman nearer than I."

לִינִ֣י הַלַּ֔יְלָה וְהָיָ֥ה בַבֹּ֖קֶר אִם־יִגְאָלֵ֣ךְ ט֑וֹב יִגְאָ֔ל וְאִם־לֹ֨א יַחְפֹּ֤ץ לְגָאֳלֵךְ֙ וּגְאַלְתִּ֣יךְ אָנֹ֔כִי חַי־יְהוָ֖ה שִׁכְבִ֥י עַד־הַבֹּֽקֶר׃
KJVTarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
"Stay this night, and it will be in the morning, that if he will perform the duty of a kinsman for you, good; let him do the kinsman's part. But if he will not do the part of a kinsman for you, then I will do the part of a kinsman for you, as Yahweh lives. Lie down until the morning."

וַתִּשְׁכַּ֥ב מַרְגְּלוֹתָ֖יו עַד־הַבֹּ֑קֶר וַתָּ֕קָם בְּטֶ֖רֶם יַכִּ֥יר אִ֖ישׁ אֶת־רֵעֵ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אַל־יִוָּדַ֙עַ֙ כִּֽי־בָ֣אָה הָאִשָּׁ֔ה הַגֹּֽרֶן׃
KJVAnd she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
She lay at his feet until the morning. She rose up before one could discern another. For he said, "Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor."

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הָבִ֤י הַמִּטְפַּ֙חַת֙ אֲשֶׁר־עָלַ֔יִךְ וְאֶחֳזִי־בָ֑הּ וַתֹּ֤אחֶז בָּהּ֙ וַיָּ֣מָד שֵׁשׁ־שְׂעֹרִ֔ים וַיָּ֖שֶׁת עָלֶ֑יהָ וַיָּבֹ֖א הָעִֽיר׃
KJVAlso he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
He said, "Bring the mantle that is on you, and hold it." She held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; and he went into the city.
16
וַתָּב֖וֹא אֶל־חֲמוֹתָ֑הּ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר מִי־אָ֣תְּ בִּתִּ֑י וַתַּגֶּד־לָ֔הּ אֵ֖ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָֽשָׂה לָ֖הּ הָאִֽישׁ׃
KJVAnd when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, "How did it go, my daughter?" She told her all that the man had done for her.

וַתֹּ֗אמֶר שֵׁשׁ־הַשְּׂעֹרִ֤ים הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ נָ֣תַן לִ֔י כִּ֚י אָמַ֣ר אֵלַ֔י אַל־תָּב֥וֹאִי רֵיקָ֖ם אֶל־חֲמוֹתֵֽךְ׃
KJVAnd she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
She said, "He gave me these six measures of barley; for he said, 'Don't go empty to your mother-in-law.'"

וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ שְׁבִ֣י בִתִּ֔י עַ֚ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֵּדְעִ֔ין אֵ֖יךְ יִפֹּ֣ל דָּבָ֑ר כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יִשְׁקֹט֙ הָאִ֔ישׁ כִּי־אִם־כִּלָּ֥ה הַדָּבָ֖ר הַיּֽוֹם׃
KJVThen said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
Then she said, "Wait, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has settled the matter today."
