וַ֠יִּוָּ֡עֶץ הַ֠מֶּ֡לֶךְ וְ֠שָׂרָ֡יו וְ֠כָ֠ל הַ֠קָּהָ֡ל בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת הַ֠פֶּ֡סַח בַּ֠חֹ֡דֶשׁ הַ֠שֵּׁנִֽי׃

KJVFor the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.

For the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem had taken counsel to keep the Passover in the second month —

כִּ֠י לֹ֡א יָ֠כְל֡וּ לַ֠עֲשֹׂת֡וֹ בָּ֠עֵ֡ת הַ֠הִ֡יא כִּ֠י הַ֠כֹּ֠הֲנִ֡ים לֹ֠א הִ֠תְקַדְּשׁ֡וּ לְ֠מַ֡דַּי וְ֠הָ֠עָ֡ם לֹ֠א נֶ֠אֶסְפ֡וּ לִ֠ירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

KJVFor they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

וַ֠יַּ֠עֲמִ֡ידוּ דָ֠בָ֡ר לְ֠הַ֠עֲבִ֡יר ק֠וֹל בְּ֠כָ֠ל יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל מִ֠בְּאֵ֡ר שֶׁ֠בַ֡ע וְ֠עַ֠ד דָּ֡ן לָ֠ב֡וֹא לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת פֶּ֠סַ֡ח לַ֠יהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֡י יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלָ֡͏ִם כִּ֠י לֹ֡א לָ֠רֹ֡ב עָ֠שׂ֡וּ כַּ֠כָּתֽוּב׃

KJVSo they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.

So they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that the people should come and keep the Passover to the LORD, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem, for they had not kept it as often as prescribed.

וַ֠יֵּלְכ֡וּ הָ֠רָצִ֡ים בָּ֠אִ֠גְּר֡וֹת מִ֠יַּ֡ד הַ֠מֶּ֡לֶךְ וְ֠שָׂרָ֡יו בְּ֠כָ֠ל יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל וִ֠יהוּדָ֡ה וּ֠כְ֠מִצְוַ֡ת הַ֠מֶּ֡לֶךְ לֵ֠אמֹ֡ר בְּנֵ֡י יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל שׁ֠וּבוּ אֶ֠ל יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֡י אַבְרָהָ֡ם יִ֠צְחָ֡ק וְ֠יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל וְ֠יָ֠שֹׁ֡ב אֶ֠ל הַ֠פְּלֵ֠יטָ֡ה הַ֠נִּשְׁאֶ֠רֶת לָ֠כֶ֡ם מִ֠כַּ֡ף מַלְכֵ֡י אַשּֽׁוּר׃

KJVSo the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

So the couriers went throughout all Israel and Judah with letters from the king and his princes, as the king had commanded, saying: O people of Israel, return to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may turn again to the remnant of you who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria.

וְ֠אַל תִּ֠הְי֡וּ כַ֠אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֡ם וְ֠כַ֠אֲחֵיכֶ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָ֠עֲל֡וּ בַּ֠יהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֡י אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֡ם וַ֠יִּ֠תְּנֵ֡ם לְ֠שַׁמָּ֡ה כַּ֠אֲשֶׁ֡ר אַ֠תֶּ֡ם רֹאִֽים׃

KJVAnd be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.

Do not be like your fathers and your brothers, who were faithless to the LORD God of their fathers, so that he made them a desolation, as you see.

עַתָּ֗ה אַל תַּקְשׁ֙וּ עָ֨רְפְּכֶ֜ם כַּ֠אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֡ם תְּנ֡וּ יָ֠ד לַ֠יהוָ֡ה וּ֠בֹ֡אוּ לְ֠מִקְדָּשׁ֡וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִ֠קְדִּ֡ישׁ לְ֠עוֹלָ֡ם וְ֠עִבְד֡וּ אֶ֠ת יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֡ם וְ֠יָ֠שֹׁ֡ב מִ֠כֶּ֡ם חֲר֡וֹן אַפּֽוֹ׃

KJVNow be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD and come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever, and serve the LORD your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

כִּ֠י בְ֠שׁוּבְכֶ֡ם עַ֠ל יְהוָ֡ה אֲחֵיכֶ֡ם וּ֠בְנֵיכֶ֡ם לְ֠רַחֲמִ֡ים לִ֠פְנֵ֡י שׁוֹבֵיהֶ֡ם וְ֠לָ֠שׁ֡וּב לָ֠אָ֡רֶץ הַ֠זֹּ֡את כִּ֠י חַנּ֡וּן וְ֠רַח֡וּם יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֡ם וְ֠לֹ֡א יָ֠סִ֡יר פָּנִ֡ים מִ֠כֶּ֡ם אִ֠ם תָּ֠שׁ֡וּבוּ אֵלָֽיו׃

KJVFor if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and your children will find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.

וַ֠יִּהְי֡וּ הָ֠רָצִ֡ים עֹבְרִ֡ים מֵ֠עִ֡יר לְ֠עִ֡יר בְּ֠אֶ֠רֶץ אֶ֠פְרַ֡יִם וּ֠מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה וְ֠עַ֠ד זְבֻלֻ֡ן וַ֠יִּ֠הְי֡וּ מַ֠שְׂחִ֠יקִ֡ים עֲלֵיהֶ֡ם וּ֠מַ֠לְעִ֡גִּים בָּהֶֽם׃

KJVSo the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

So the couriers went from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, and as far as Zebulun, but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them.

אַ֠ךְ אֲנָ֠שִׁ֡ים מֵ֠אָשֵׁ֡ר וּ֠מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה וּ֠מִ֠זְבֻלֻ֡ן נִ֠כְנְע֡וּ וַ֠יָּבֹ֡אוּ לִ֠ירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

KJVNevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.

However, some men of Asher, of Manasseh, and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

גַּ֠ם בִּ֠יהוּדָ֡ה הָ֠יְתָ֡ה יַ֠ד הָ֠אֱלֹ֠הִ֡ים לָ֠תֵ֡ת לָ֠הֶ֡ם לֵ֠ב אֶחָ֡ד לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת מִ֠צְוַ֡ת הַ֠מֶּ֡לֶךְ וְ֠הַ֠שָּׂרִ֡ים בִּ֠דְבַ֡ר יְהוָֽה׃

KJVAlso in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.

וַ֠יֵּ֠אָסְפ֡וּ יְרוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם עַ֠ם רָ֠ב לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת אֶ֠ת חַ֠ג הַ֠מַּצּ֡וֹת בַּ֠חֹ֡דֶשׁ הַ֠שֵּׁנִ֡י קָהָ֡ל לָ֠רֹ֡ב מְאֹֽד׃

KJVAnd there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation.

And many people came together in Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

וַ֠יָּקֻ֡מוּ וַ֠יָּסִ֡ירוּ אֶ֠ת הַ֠מִּ֠זְבְּח֡וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם וְ֠אֵ֡ת כָּ֠ל הַ֠מְּקַטְּר֡וֹת הֵסִ֡ירוּ וַ֠יַּשְׁלִ֡יכוּ לְ֠נַ֠חַ֡ל קִדְרֽוֹן׃

KJVAnd they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

וַ֠יִּשְׁחֲט֡וּ הַ֠פֶּ֠סַ֡ח בְּ֠אַרְבָּעָ֡ה עָ֠שָׂ֡ר לַ֠חֹ֡דֶשׁ הַ֠שֵּׁנִ֡י וְהַ֠כֹּ֠הֲנִ֡ים וְהַ֠לְוִיִּ֡ם נִ֠כְלְמוּ֩ וַ֨יִּ֠תְקַדְּשׁ֡וּ וַ֠יָּבִ֡יאוּ עֹל֡וֹת בֵּ֠ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJVThen they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.

And they slaughtered the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites were ashamed, so that they consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.

וַ֠יַּ֠עַמְד֡וּ עַ֠ל עָמְדָ֡ם כְּ֠מִשְׁפָּטָ֡ם כְּ֠תוֹרַ֡ת מֹשֶׁ֡ה אִ֠ישׁ הָ֠אֱלֹ֠הִ֡ים הַ֠כֹּ֠הֲנִ֡ים זֹרְקִ֡ים אֶ֠ת הַ֠דָּ֡ם מִ֠יַּ֡ד הַ֠לְוִיִּֽם׃

KJVAnd they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites.

They took their accustomed posts according to the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests threw the blood that they received from the hand of the Levites.

כִּ֠י רַ֠בַּ֡ת בַּ֠קָּהָ֡ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹ֠א הִ֠תְקַדָּשׁ֡וּ וְ֠הַ֠לְוִיִּ֡ם עַ֠ל שְׁחִ֠יטַ֡ת הַ֠פְּסָחִ֡ים לְ֠כֹ֠ל לֹ֠א טָה֡וֹר לְ֠הַ֠קְדִּ֡ישׁ לַ֠יהוָֽה׃

KJVFor there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them unto the LORD.

For there were many in the assembly who had not consecrated themselves. Therefore the Levites had to slaughter the Passover lamb for everyone who was not clean, to consecrate it to the LORD.

כִּ֠י מַ֠רְבִּ֡ית הָ֠עָ֡ם רַ֠בַּ֡ת מֵ֠אֶ֠פְרַ֡יִם וּ֠מְנַשֶּׁ֡ה יִ֠שָּׂשכָ֡ר וּ֠זְבֻלֻ֡ן לֹ֠א הִ֠טַּהֲר֡וּ כִּ֠י אָ֠כְל֡וּ אֶ֠ת הַ֠פֶּ֠סַ֡ח בְּ֠לֹ֡א כַ֠כָּ֠תֽוּב כִּ֠י הִ֠תְפַּ֠לֵּ֡ל יְחִזְקִיָּ֡הוּ בַ֠עֲדָ֡ם לֵ֠אמֹ֡ר יְהוָ֡ה הַ֠טּ֡וֹב יְ֠כַ֠פֵּ֡ר בְּ֠עַד׃

KJVFor a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one

For a majority of the people, many of them from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than as prescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying: May the good LORD pardon everyone

כָּ֠ל לְבָב֡וֹ הֵ֠כִ֡ין לִ֠דְר֡וֹשׁ הָ֠אֱלֹ֠הִ֡ים יְהוָ֡ה אֱלֹהֵ֡י אֲבוֹתָ֡יו וְ֠לֹ֡א כְ֠טָהֳרַ֡ת הַ֠קֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

KJVThat prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.

KJVAnd the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

וַ֠יַּ֠עֲשׂ֡וּ בְנֵ֡י יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל הַ֠נִּמְצְאִ֡ים בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלַ֡͏ִם אֶ֠ת חַ֠ג הַ֠מַּצּ֡וֹת שִׁבְעַ֡ת יָמִ֡ים בְּ֠שִׂמְחָ֡ה גְדוֹלָ֡ה וּ֠מְהַלְלִ֡ים לַ֠יהוָ֡ה יוֹם בְּ֠יוֹם הַ֠לְוִיִּ֡ם וְ֠הַ֠כֹּ֠הֲנִ֡ים בִּ֠כְלֵ֡י עֹ֠ז לַ֠יהוָֽה׃

KJVAnd the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments unto the LORD.

KJVAnd Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.

And Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good skill in the service of the LORD. So they ate the food of the festival for seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

וַ֠יִּוָּ֡עֲצוּ כָ֠ל הַ֠קָּהָ֡ל לַ֠עֲשׂ֡וֹת שִׁבְעַ֡ת יָמִ֡ים אֲחֵרִ֡ים וַ֠יַּ֠עֲשׂ֡וּ שִׁבְעַ֡ת יָמִ֡ים שִׂמְחָֽה׃

KJVAnd the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: and they kept other seven days with gladness.

Then the whole assembly agreed together to keep the feast for another seven days. So they kept it for another seven days with gladness.

כִּ֠י יְחִזְקִיָּ֡הוּ מֶ֠לֶ֠ךְ יְ֠הוּדָ֡ה הֵרִ֡ים לַ֠קָּהָ֡ל אֶ֠לֶף פָּרִ֡ים וְ֠שִׁ֠בְעַ֡ת אֲלָפִ֡ים צֹ֠אן וְ֠הַ֠שָּׂרִ֡ים הֵרִ֡ימוּ לַ֠קָּהָ֡ל פָּרִ֡ים אֶ֠לֶף וְ֠צֹ֠אן עֲשֶׂ֠רֶת אֲלָפִ֡ים וַ֠יִּ֠תְקַדְּשׁ֡וּ כֹ֠הֲנִ֡ים לָ֠רֹ֡ב׃

KJVFor Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

For Hezekiah king of Judah gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 7,000 sheep for offerings, and the princes gave the assembly 1,000 bulls and 10,000 sheep. And the priests consecrated themselves in great numbers.

וַ֠יִּשְׂמְח֡וּ כָּ֠ל קְהַ֡ל יְ֠הוּדָ֡ה וְ֠הַ֠כֹּ֠הֲנִ֡ים וְ֠הַ֠לְוִיִּ֡ם וְ֠כָ֠ל הַ֠קָּהָ֡ל הַ֠בָּ֡א מֵ֠יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל וְ֠הַ֠גֵּרִ֡ים הַ֠בָּאִ֡ים מֵ֠אֶ֠רֶץ יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל וְ֠הַ֠יֹּשְׁבִ֡ים בִּ֠יהוּדָֽה׃

KJVAnd all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.

And there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.

וַ֠תְּהִ֡י שִׂמְחָ֡ה גְד֡וֹלָה בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלָ֡͏ִם כִּ֠י מִ֠ימֵ֡י שְׁלֹמֹ֡ה בֶ֠ן דָּוִ֡יד מֶ֠לֶ֠ךְ יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֡ל לֹ֠א הָ֠יְתָ֡ה כָ֠זֹ֡את בִּ֠ירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

KJVSo there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.
