לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ עַל שׁוֹשַׁנִּ֗ים לְדָוִֽד׃

KJVTo the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.

To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. Of David.

2

הוֹשִׁיעֵ֥נִי אֱלֹהִ֑ים כִּ֤י בָ֥אוּ מַ֝יִם עַד נָֽפֶשׁ׃

KJVSave me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck.

3

טָבַ֤עְתִּי ׀ בִּיוֵן֮ מְצוּלָ֗ה וְ֫אֵ֥ין מָעֳמָ֑ד בָּ֥אתִי בְמַעֲמַקֵּי מַ֝֗יִם וְשִׁבֹּ֥לֶת שְׁטָפָֽתְנִי׃

KJVI sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me.

יָגַ֤עְתִּי ׀ בְּקָרְאִי֮ נִחַ֥ר גְּרוֹנִ֗י כָּ֫לוּ עֵינַ֥י מְיַחֵ֣ל לֵֽאלֹהָֽי׃

KJVI am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.

רַבּ֣וּ מִשַּׂ֣עֲרוֹת רֹאשִׁ֗י שֹׂנְאַ֣י חִ֭נָּם עָצְמ֣וּ מַצְמִיתַ֑י אֹיְבַ֥י שֶׁ֝֗קֶר אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא גָזָֽלְתִּי אָ֣ז אֲשִׁיֽב׃

KJVThey that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, those who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore?

אֱלֹהִ֗ים אַתָּ֥ה יָדַ֥עַת לְאִוַּלְתִּ֑י וְ֝אַשְׁמוֹתַ֗י מִמְּךָ֥ לֹ֣א נִסְתָּֽרוּ׃

KJVO God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

אַל יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ בִ֭י קֹוֶ֣יךָ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה צְבָא֣וֹת אַל יִכָּלְמ֥וּ בִ֝י מְבַקְשֶׁ֗יךָ אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJVLet not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel.

כִּי עָלֶ֣יךָ נָשָׂ֣אתִי חֶרְפָּ֑ה כִּ֝סְּתָ֗ה כְלִמָּ֥ה פָנָֽי׃

KJVBecause for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face.

מוּזָ֣ר הָ֭יִיתִי לְאֶחָ֑י וְ֝נָכְרִ֗י לִבְנֵ֥י אִמִּֽי׃

KJVI am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother's sons.

10

כִּי קִנְאַ֣ת בֵּיתְךָ֣ אֲכָלָ֑תְנִי וְחֶרְפּ֥וֹת חֽ֝וֹרְפֶ֗יךָ נָפְל֥וּ עָלָֽי׃

KJVFor the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.

וָאֶבְכֶּ֣ה בְצ֣וֹם נַפְשִׁ֑י וַתְּהִ֖י לַחֲרָפ֣וֹת לִֽי׃

KJVWhen I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach.

וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה לְ֭בוּשִׁי שָׂ֑ק וָ֝אֱהִ֗י לָהֶ֥ם לְמָשָֽׁל׃

KJVI made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.

יָשִׂ֣יחוּ בִ֭י יֹשְׁבֵ֣י שָׁ֑עַר וּ֝נְגִינ֗וֹת שׁוֹתֵ֥י שֵׁכָֽר׃

KJVThey that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.

14

וַאֲנִ֤י תְפִלָּתִֽי לְךָ֨ ׀ יְהוָ֗ה עֵ֤ת רָצ֗וֹן אֱלֹהִ֥ים בְּרָב חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ עֲנֵ֖נִי בֶּאֱמֶ֣ת יִשְׁעֶֽךָ׃

KJVBut as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O LORD. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.

הַצִּ֘ילֵ֤נִי מִטִּ֗יט וְאַל אֶטְבָּ֑עָה אִנָּצְלָ֥ה מִ֝שֹּׂנְאַ֗י וּמִמַּעֲמַקֵּי מָֽיִם׃

KJVDeliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters.

16

אַל תִּשְׁטְפֵ֨נִי ׀ שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת מַ֭יִם וְאַל תִּֽבְלָעֵ֑נִי מְ֝צוּלָ֗ה וְאַל תֶּאְטַר עָלַ֥י בְּאֵֽר פִּֽיהָ׃

KJVLet not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me.

17

עֲנֵ֣נִי יְ֭הוָה כִּי ט֣וֹב חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ כְּרֹ֥ב רַ֝חֲמֶ֗יךָ פְּנֵ֣ה אֵלָֽי׃

KJVHear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

Answer me, O LORD, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me.

18

וְאַל תַּסְתֵּ֣ר פָּנֶ֣יךָ מֵֽעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י צַ֝ר לִ֗י מַהֵ֥ר עֲנֵֽנִי׃

KJVAnd hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

Hide not your face from your servant, for I am in distress; make haste to answer me.

19

קָרְבָ֣ה אֶל נַפְשִׁ֣י גְאָלָ֑הּ לְמַ֖עַן אֹיְבַ֣י פְּדֵֽנִי׃

KJVDraw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

Draw near to my soul, redeem it; ransom me because of my enemies!

20

אַתָּ֗ה יָ֭דַעְתָּ חֶרְפָּ֣תִי וּבָשְׁתִּ֑י וּ֝כְלִמָּתִ֗י נֶגְדְּךָ֥ כָּל צוֹרְרָֽי׃

KJVThou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor; my foes are all known to you.

21

חֶ֭רְפָּה שָׁבְרָ֣ה לִבִּ֗י וָאָ֫נ֥וּשָׁה וָ֭אֲקַוֶּה לָנ֣וּד וָאַ֑יִן וְ֝לַמְנַחֲמִ֗ים וְלֹ֣א מָצָֽאתִי׃

KJVReproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

Reproach has broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.

22

וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ בְ֭בָרוּתִי רֹ֑אשׁ וְ֝לִצְמָאִ֗י יַשְׁק֥וּנִי חֹֽמֶץ׃

KJVThey gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink.

23

יְהִ֣י שֻׁ֭לְחָנָם לִפְנֵיהֶ֣ם לְפָ֑ח וְלִשְׁלוֹמִ֥ים לְמוֹקֵֽשׁ׃

KJVLet their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

Let their own table before them become a snare; and when they are at peace, let it become a trap.

24

תֶּחְשַׁ֥כְנָה עֵֽינֵיהֶ֑ם מֵ֝רְא֗וֹת וּמָתְנֵיהֶ֥ם תָּמִ֗יד הַמְעַד׃

KJVLet their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually.

25

שְׁפָךְ עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם זַעְמֶ֑ךָ וַ֝חֲרוֹן אַפְּךָ֗ יַשִּׂיגֵֽם׃

KJVPour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your burning anger overtake them.

26

תְּהִי טִֽירָתָ֣ם נְשַׁמָּ֑ה בְּ֝אָהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם אַל יְהִ֥י יֹשֵֽׁב׃

KJVLet their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

May their camp be a desolation; let no one dwell in their tents.

27

כִּי אַתָּ֣ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִכִּ֣יתָ רָדָ֑פוּ וְאֶל מַ֝כְאֽוֹב חֲלָלֶ֗יךָ יְסַפֵּֽרוּ׃

KJVFor they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

For they persecute him whom you have struck down, and they recount the pain of those you have wounded.

28

תְּנָ֣ה עָ֭וֹן עַל עֲוֹנָ֑ם וְאַל יָ֝בֹ֗אוּ בְּצִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃

KJVAdd iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

Add to them punishment upon punishment; may they have no acquittal from you.

29

יִמָּחוּ֮ מִסֵּ֪פֶר חַ֫יִּ֥ים וְעִ֖ם צַדִּיקִ֣ים אַל יִכָּתֵֽבוּ׃

KJVLet them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; let them not be enrolled among the righteous.

30

וַאֲנִ֤י עָנִ֣י וְכֹאֵ֑ב יְשׁוּעָתְךָ֥ אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים תְּשַׂגְּבֵֽנִי׃

KJVBut I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

But I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, set me on high!

31

אֲהַלְלָ֣ה שֵׁם אֱלֹהִ֣ים בְּשִׁ֑יר וַאֲגַדְּלֶ֥נּוּ בְתוֹדָֽה׃

KJVI will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.

32

וְ֭תִיטַב לַיהוָ֣ה מִשּׁ֑וֹר פָּ֗ר מַקְרִ֥ן מַפְרִֽיס׃

KJVThis also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

This will please the LORD more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs.

33

רָא֣וּ עֲנָוִ֣ים יִשְׂמָ֑חוּ דֹּרְשֵׁ֥י אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים וִיחִ֥י לְבַבְכֶֽם׃

KJVThe humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive.

34

כִּֽי שֹׁמֵ֣עַ אֶל אֶבְיוֹנִ֣ים יְהוָ֑ה וְאֶת אֲסִירָ֥יו לֹ֣א בָזָֽה׃

KJVFor the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.

35

יְֽהַלְל֥וּהוּ שָׁמַ֗יִם וָאָ֑רֶץ יַמִּ֥ים וְ֝כָל רֹמֵ֥שׂ בָּֽם׃

KJVLet the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.

Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them.

36

כִּ֤י אֱלֹהִ֗ים יוֹשִׁ֣יעַ צִ֭יּוֹן וְיִבְנֶ֣ה עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וְיָ֘שְׁב֤וּ שָׁ֗ם וִֽירֵשׁ֥וּהָ׃

KJVFor God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

For God will save Zion and build up the cities of Judah, and people shall dwell there and possess it;

37

וְזֶ֣רַע עֲבָדָ֣יו יִנְחָל֑וּהָ וְאֹהֲבֵ֥י שְׁ֝מ֗וֹ יִשְׁכְּנוּ בָֽהּ׃

KJVThe seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

the offspring of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it.
