וַיַּעַן֩ אִ֨ישׁ מֵֽהָעָ֜ם וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַשְׁבֵּעַ֩ הִשְׁבִּ֨יעַ אָבִ֤יךָ אֶת־הָעָם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אָר֥וּר הָאִ֛ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם הַיּ֑וֹם וַיָּ֖עַף הָעָֽם׃
vayaʿan ʾiysh mehaʿam vayoʾmer hashbeʿa hishbiyʿa ʾabiyka ʾet-haʿam leʾmor ʾarvr haʾiysh ʾasher-yoʾkal leḥem hayvom vayaʿaf haʿam

Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed {be} the man that eateth {any} food this day. And the people were faint. {faint: or, weary}

Modern English

Then one of the people answered, and said, “Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed is the man who eats food today.’” The people were faint.
