La noticia llegó al rey de Nínive, quien se levantó de su trono, se quitó su manto real, se cubrió con cilicio y se sentó sobre cenizas.
For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered {him} with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
וַיִּגַּ֤ע הַדָּבָר֙ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶך נִֽינְוֵ֔ה וַיָּ֙קָם֙ מִכִּסְא֔וֹ וַיַּעֲבֵ֥ר אַדַּרְתּ֖וֹ מֵֽעָלָ֑יו וַיְכַ֣ס שַׂ֔ק וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב עַל־הָאֵֽפֶר׃
vayigaʿ hadabar ʾel-melek niynveh vayaqam mikisʾvo vayaʿaber ʾadartvo meʿalayv vaykas shaq vayesheb ʿal-haʾeper
