El mensajero respondió: «Israel ha huido ante los filisteos y también ha habido una gran derrota en el pueblo; además, tus dos hijos, Ofni y Finees, han muerto, y el arca de Dios ha sido capturada.»
And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.
וַיַּ֨עַן הַֽמְבַשֵּׂ֜ר וַיֹּ֗אמֶר נָ֤ס יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לִפְנֵ֣י פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְגַ֛ם מַגֵּפָ֥ה גְדוֹלָ֖ה הָיְתָ֣ה בָעָ֑ם וְגַם־שְׁנֵ֨י בָנֶ֜יךָ מֵ֗תוּ חָפְנִי֙ וּפִ֣ינְחָ֔ס וַאֲר֥וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים נִלְקָֽחָה׃
vayaʿan hambasher vayoʾmer nas yishraʾel lipney plishtiym vgam magepah gdvolah haytah baʿam vgam-shney baneyka metv ḥapniy vpiynḥas vaʾarvon haʾelohiym nilqaḥah
