Y él respondió: «Mientras el niño aún vivía, yo ayunaba y lloraba, porque decía: '¿Quién sabe si el SEÑOR tendrá compasión de mí y vivirá el niño?'
And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell {whether} GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר בְּעוֹד֙ הַיֶּ֣לֶד חַ֔י צַ֖מְתִּי וָֽאֶבְכֶּ֑ה כִּ֤י אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ מִ֣י יוֹדֵ֔עַ יחנני וְחַנַּ֥נִי יְהוָ֖ה וְחַ֥י הַיָּֽלֶד׃
vayoʾmer bʿvod hayeled ḥay ṣamtiy vaʾebkeh kiy ʾamartiy miy yvodeʿa yḥnny vḥananiy yhvah vḥay hayaled
