De edad de ochenta años soy hoy. ¿Puedo discernir entre lo bueno y lo malo? ¿Puede tu siervo gustar lo que coma o lo que beba? ¿Puedo oír más la voz de los cantores y las cantoras? ¿Para qué, pues, ha de ser tu siervo una carga para mi señor el rey?
I {am} this day fourscore years old: {and} can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר בַּרְזִלַּ֖י אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ כַּמָּ֗ה יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיַּ֔י כִּי־אֶעֱלֶ֥ה אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
vayoʾmer barzilay ʾel-hamelek kamah ymey shney ḥayay kiy-ʾeʿeleh ʾet-hamelek yrvshala͏im
