The Story of Hezron

Son of Peretz; already born and named among the seventy who went down to Egypt with Yaakov (Genesis 46:12)

Father of the Chetzronite clan (Numbers 26:21)

1 Chronicles 2:9 names three sons — Yerachme'el, Ram, and Kelubai (also called Calev in 1 Chronicles 2:18, 42 — a different person from Calev ben Yefuneh the spy of Numbers 13–14, despite the shared name)

Direct ancestor of David through his son Ram (Ruth 4:19, Matthew 1:3, Luke 3:33)

“Already born when the family went down to Egypt — father of Ram”

Traditional note: DISAMBIGUATION: This Chetzron, son of Peretz (Genesis 46:12, the Davidic-spine ancestor), is a different person from Chetzron ben Reuven (Genesis 46:9, Numbers 26:6, son of Reuven), who belongs to the 'sons and grandsons of the twelve' section of this dataset (planned id: 'chetzron-ben-reuven'). The id 'chetzron-ben-peretz' is used here specifically to avoid collision with that figure. Chetzron's son 'Kelubai'/'Calev' (1 Chronicles 2:9, 18) is a THIRD figure sharing a name already used elsewhere in this dataset — distinct from Calev ben Yefuneh (the spy of Numbers 13–14, tribe Yehudah, already an entry in this file). Neither Yerachme'el nor Kelubai/Calev (Chetzron's other sons) are pursued in this dataset; only the line through Ram continues to David.
