The Story of Eliakim

Named only once in scripture, as the link between Aviud and Azor: 'Aviud begat Elyakim; and Elyakim begat Azor' (Matthew 1:13)

“'Aviud begat Elyakim; and Elyakim begat Azor' (Matthew 1:13) — a name shared with kings and stewards, carried here by a man scripture says nothing else about”

Traditional note: See the general note on the 'silent generation' (Matthew 1:13–15) in 'aviud'. The name 'Elyakim' is otherwise well attested in scripture for other individuals — most prominently Yehoyakim (this dataset's 'yehoyakim'), whose name was also originally 'Eliakim' before Pharaoh Necho renamed him, and Chizkiyahu's steward Elyakim ben Chilkiyahu (2 Kings 18:18, Isaiah 22:20, 36:3) — but this dataset does not identify this Elyakim with either of those individuals; the name's recurrence simply reflects its popularity.
